The Story

A Family Legacy in the Wild

Tendai Mulavu grew up listening to the roar of the Zambezi and the distant thunder of Victoria Falls. His grandfather was a tracker for the colonial-era game reserves; his father, a national parks ranger. The bush was never a workplace — it was home.

In 2010, Tendai founded Mulavu Safaris with a single Land Cruiser and a conviction that the best way to protect Zimbabwe's wildlife was to connect people with it deeply and honestly. No staged encounters, no overcrowded vehicles, no rushed itineraries.

Today, Mulavu Safaris operates across Victoria Falls, Hwange National Park, and the Upper Zambezi — with a team of 14 guides, a fleet of purpose-built safari vehicles, and partnerships with some of Zimbabwe's finest bush camps.

Our Mission

“To connect people with Africa's wild places in ways that are authentic, responsible, and transformative.”

We believe a safari should change how you see the world. Every itinerary we craft is designed to move beyond the surface — into the rhythms, sounds, and stories of the African bush.
